Eco-education and stress prevention
St. Martins is a certified farm for animal assisted intervention. For this, training had to be completed by both humans and animals.
The animal-assisted specialists, the animals, the stables, and the safety on the farm have been thoroughly inspected.
Animal-assisted intervention at the farm (AAI)
refers to the specific use of farm animals in education, social work and/or therapy.
The specialists who supervise the programs at St. Martins have a pedagogical primary profession, an agricultural qualification, and additional AAI training.
The St. Martins estate has also been inspected by an external body regarding animal welfare, husbandry conditions, and safety, and as part of a livestock assessment, the animals were certified for use in animal-assisted interventions.
In accordance with the definition of "biophilia", we want to enable guests to encounter animals – and nature in general – on an equal footing, thereby experiencing well-being and stress reduction. Ultimately, we need the living environment to remain mentally and physically healthy ourselves.

The animals at St. Martins provide a special setting for both our guests and the entire team, creating a feeling of "coming home".
The St. Martins estate – which comprises the St. Martins stable and the explorers' trail around our lake – is home to numerous farm animals. Many of these animals have been specially trained and certified for animal-assisted intervention. In addition, our animal "colleagues" such as Baroque donkeys, sheep, and goats are also deployed to graze valuable nature conservation areas.
Following the trail into the day thermal baths research station, the animals become a bit more exotic, as a constantly warm climate prevails here all year round. Selected species such as Madagascar hissing cockroaches, spiny leaf insects, and Australian stick insects, among others, feel right at home here and support us in numerous zoo- and eco-educational programs. This gives families the opportunity to learn a lot about nature and special species indoors as well, and pet keeping & animal welfare are also important topics that are discussed.
