The photo hide

The St. Martins photo hide - unique in Austria!

Through the mirrored panes of our photo hide, observers and photographers are not noticed by the birds. With a little patience and luck, you can take professional nature photos at close range! We recommend telephoto lenses with a focal length of 400mm or more, a tripod (can be borrowed free of charge if required) and dark clothing.
Availability on request, the most exciting times in the photo hide are the breeding season (April/May) and the autumn migration of birds (August/September).

With a lot of passion a part of a former salt pond - the Pimetzlacke - was renaturalized on the St. Martins site. The varnish has disappeared since about the 1980s and has now been brought back to "life". In the center of the shallow water is an observation hide sunk into the ground.

Bee-eater hideout

From May to July, bee-eaters and sand martins breed side by side in a specially erected breeding wall on our site.

During this time, they can be photographed and observed at close range from the new hide. The bee-eater hide is a wooden hut without windows for a maximum of 2 people. We also recommend a focal length of 400 mm or more and a tripod as photographic equipment.
