The North Coasts of Europe
The Nordic-inspired treatments are based on the elements of salt and water and bear the mark of the sea.
The north is represented in the region by numerous shorebirds. One example is the shelduck, which even breeds here. One bird that we have transmitted has even flown non-stop from Seewinkel to Hamburg. The area of Lake Neusiedl is an important resting place during bird migration. Numerous species from the far north rest here and recharge their batteries.
Salt habitats are also characteristic elements of the region Neusiedler See, where you can find the salt vegetation from distant coastal areas. Another peculiarity are the ice age relics. They could survive only selectively in permanently cool places, e.g. in the Zitzmannsdorf meadows. One example is the northern vole, which has a relict occurrence here.
The Mediterranean area
The southern-inspired treatments are based on rosemary, grape and lavender and bear the mark of lavender.
Warmth-loving species from the Mediterranean region often have their northernmost distribution area in this region. The magnificently coloured wasp spider, for example, is a typical inhabitant of southern Europe, but can also be found here in the Seewinkel. Various species of grasshoppers and cicadas provide the typical Mediterranean sound in our latitudes. Some bird species such as the lapwing also winter in southern Europe around the Mediterranean.
The Central Asian steppe
The Eastern-inspired treatments are based on honey, mud and heat and bear the sign of the sun.
The National Park Neusiedler See-Seewinkel is also called the Steppe National Park. It is part of the Eastern European steppe landscape, which continues to Asia. The lowest point of Austria with 114 m above sea level is also located here.
Numerous often strictly protected species that need open land are native here. Examples are the field manure (an umbellifer) or the European gopher (a rodent). The flat steppe landscape is characterized by intense sunlight, as there are no hills to block the light either.
The Alps
The Western-inspired treatments are based on berries, herbs and oxygen and bear the mark of the mountains.
The Schneeberg mountain is 75 km away from Seewinkel. Accordingly, the region is also influenced by the nearby Alps climatically and by the occurrence of some species. Especially during winter, alpine bird species, such as the raven or the mountain finch, come to Seewinkel to find food. Exclusively here, in this unique region live but also relict occurrences, such as the mountain lizard or the white germer, which actually do not belong in the lowlands.
