The "Seagulls not lions" team at St. Martins thermal baths & Lodge spotted an incredible 158 bird species this year - clearly beating the existing Austrian record of 151 species. "In 2014, we set our previous record of 151 bird species and have held the record ever since. They set themselves a more than ambitious goal, the team "St. Martins Trockenschnepfen", at the BirdRace his year: the three ornithologists wanted to discover more than 100 kinds of bird within 24 hours at the area of the St. Martins Spa & Lodge. "It inspires us even gives us humility, which species diversity we have here at the area - our experts did not only reach their goal - but with 107 bird species even more than over-fulfilled", explains managing director Klaus Hofmann, St. Martins Spa & Lodge. "Altogether only in our area an unbelievable 205 bird species could be counted already. That is a variety of species in the direct surroundings of a thermal bath, which looks for its-same."

A most unusual discovery was made today by the guests of St. Martins Spa & Lodge: a rare donkey was grazing peacefully on one of the nearby meadows. The St. Martins rangers managed to take a snapshot to capture this sensational event. Zebroids are hybrids of crosses between a zebra and another horse species, donkeys are accordingly the foals of a zebra stallion and a donkey mare. There are very few specimens of this cross in the world - in any case, this is the first time it has been found with one of the baroque donkeys, which are rare in themselves. The animal obviously feels at home in the steppe landscape and enjoys the wonderful spring sun. How the zebra came to the site is now being analysed in detail, it could not yet be sighted - but it is probably a particularly shy specimen.

Still more well-being feel in the St. Martins Spa & Lodge: with Saturday, 5 February the curfew is shifted according to the regulations to midnight - thus it means also finally again more time for downtime. Because of the limited number of guests it is best to reserve your the desired date in advance.

Darwin's Bar is open again longer from February 5, so that Lodge guests can still toast in peace with a nightcap or nightcap. Friday & Saturday guests enjoy an atmospheric evening with live music. "We are looking forward to this as hosts, but also our guests. Above all in addition, we can again extend the opening times of the thermal baths in each case Friday and Saturday to 24 o'clock - time-out and relaxation purely wait here for all peace-looking for", explain managing director Klaus Hofmann, St. Martins thermal baths & Lodge.

As of February 5, the regular opening hours of St. Martins Spa & Lodge apply again: thermal baths are open to day visitors from Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. - Friday and Saturday are extended. On these two days, the thermal baths can even be used until midnight. "We recommend making reservations and bookings online at www.stmartins.at, so that the desired spa entrance, the exclusive lounger or the desired room is actually secured. "Xarifa" and "Calypso" are the names of the two shelducks raised at St. Martins thermal baths & Lodge. In May, the two abandoned youngsters were discovered in the underground parking garage - and "adopted" by the rangers after consulting with experts. "Unfortunately, we were unable to track down their mother and siblings near the lodge, so our St. Martins rangers took care of the two chicks," says Klaus Hofmann, managing director of St. Martins thermal baths & Lodge. The shelducks will now be equipped with GPS trackers so that their migration route can be followed. "With this, we hope to gain insight into the way these animals live."

An unusual day experienced twelve children yesterday, Tuesday, in the St. Martins thermal baths & Lodge. "At our invitation, the twelve Ukrainian orphans and their four companions spent a wonderful bathing day with us at thermal baths", tells Klaus Hofmann, Managing Director of St. Martins thermal baths & Lodge. "When we heard that the children were in Burgenland thanks to the organization of the municipality of Apetlon, the decision was clear: the kids should be able to spend a nice day here. Thankfully, the municipality of Apetlon invited the guests from Ukraine additionally also to the consumption in the market restaurant. And the children - obviously enjoyed their visit."

Therefore, the alpine women's squad of the Austrian Ski Association made themselves fit for the winter in the context of a fitness training from 20 to 26 May in the St. Martins thermal baths & Lodge. Runners bring joy - this is doubly true at Seewinkel this spring: on the one hand, the first returning migratory bird is the dark sandpiper, and on the other hand, another runner brings glad tidings in the form of St. Martins thermal baths & Lodge employee Johann Tesarek: with his charitable ambition, the sporty employee ran up a handsome sum for the benefit of the SPZ Frauenkirchen. For every kilometer run, one euro was donated to the special education center.
